How do I mix sounds?
Sleepdrift is a multi-track mixer, so you are not limited to one sound at a time. Tap any sound to add it to your mix and it starts playing immediately. Tap more sounds to layer them on top — you can combine as many as you like.
Each sound you add gets its own volume fader. Drag a fader to set how loud that one sound sits in the mix, independently of the others. That is how you get a quiet fan under heavy rain with just a hint of distant thunder. Tap a playing sound again to remove it from the mix.
When you have a blend you like, save it as a mix and it will be waiting for you the next night — one tap to bring back every sound and every fader level exactly as you left them.
-
How does the sleep timer work?
Set a duration and the timer counts down while your mix plays. When it reaches the end, Sleepdrift gently fades the audio out to silence rather than stopping abruptly — an abrupt cut is exactly the kind of thing that pulls you out of light sleep, so the app avoids it.
You can keep using the mixer while the timer runs, and you can change or cancel the timer at any time.
-
Does it play in the background?
Yes. Sleepdrift keeps playing when you lock your iPhone or switch to another app. You also get playback controls in Control Center and on the Lock Screen, so you can pause or resume without reopening the app.
-
Does it work offline?
Yes — entirely. Every one of the 54 sounds is synthesised on your device in real time by the app's built-in DSP engine. The app contains no audio recordings and no audio files at all, so there is nothing to download and nothing to stream.
Sleepdrift works perfectly in Airplane Mode, on a plane, in a basement, or anywhere else with no signal. A side effect of generating sound rather than replaying it: nothing loops. There is no repeating seam to notice, because the audio you hear is being computed as you listen and is never the same twice.
-
How do I restore my purchases?
If you have reinstalled the app, reset your device, or moved to a new iPhone, use the "Restore Purchases" option in the app. Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you used when you bought it — this is the most common reason a restore appears to fail.
Still not restoring? Check that you have a network connection (restoring talks to the App Store, even though the sounds themselves do not), then email dmjks120@gmail.com and we will help.

How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us, so you cancel through your device:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top — your Apple Account.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select Sleepdrift and tap Cancel Subscription.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, otherwise it renews for another period. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. If you are on the 3-day free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid being charged.
Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. You have to cancel it in Settings.
The Lifetime purchase is a one-time purchase, not a subscription — there is nothing to cancel. For refunds, Apple handles all billing: visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

Why is a purchase required?
Sleepdrift is a paid app with no free tier — you need an active subscription or the one-time Lifetime purchase to use it. That is a deliberate choice.
The alternative business model for a free sleep app is advertising and data collection: an SDK that watches what you do, an ad network that profiles you, a "free" tier paid for with your attention and your information. Sleepdrift collects no data and shows no ads, and paying for it directly is what makes that possible. You are the customer rather than the product.
Choose Monthly (US$2.99), Yearly (US$14.99, with a 3-day free trial), or a one-time Lifetime purchase (US$24.99). Prices are US App Store prices and vary by region. See the Terms of Use for the full subscription terms.
-
Do you collect my data?
No. Sleepdrift collects no data whatsoever. No analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs, no ads, no accounts, no login. The app requests zero permissions — it will never ask for your microphone, camera, notifications, location, contacts, or photos, because it does not use any of them.
Your settings and saved mixes are stored locally on your device and never leave it. No data is transmitted to any server — there is no server. The only network activity is Apple's own App Store and StoreKit for purchases, which Apple handles; the developer never receives your payment details.
The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

The sound stopped, or I hear nothing
Check the obvious first: your device is not on silent or muted, the volume is up, and at least one sound is added to the mix with its fader above zero. If a sleep timer finished, the audio will have faded out by design — just start it again.
If another audio app took over playback, return to Sleepdrift and press play. Still stuck? Email dmjks120@gmail.com with your iPhone model and iOS version and we will get to the bottom of it.
A reminder: Sleepdrift is a relaxation and listening app. It is not a medical device, and it makes no claim to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition, including insomnia. If you have a persistent sleep problem, please speak to a qualified healthcare professional. See the Terms of Use.
