Seating charts that actually save — for macOS

The one-star review every cheap seating app gets is the same: it forgets your layout. SeatMaker Pro saves the room, the roster and every arrangement you build, so opening it the second time is not starting over.

What it does

Freeform room designer. Drag desks anywhere on the floor plan, rotate them, snap them to a grid, change their shape and seat count, and place the door, board, windows and teacher desk so a plan can actually be read in the room.
Unlimited saved charts per class. A rows layout for the autumn term, a groups layout for labs, a draft you are still fiddling with — they all stay, permanently.
Separation constraints with live warnings. Flag two students who must not sit together and every chart highlights the conflict the moment they end up side by side. One button rearranges them.
Auto-seating. Fill every seat alphabetically, by last name, or shuffled — then adjust by hand.
Fair random picker. Names are weighted toward whoever has been called on least, and anyone marked absent is left out.
Group generator. Random teams of any size that keep flagged students apart.
Substitute-ready printing. The print orientation toggle draws the plan either from the front of the room or from the teacher's desk — turned 180° so left and right match the person holding the page. Print it or save a PDF for the substitute folder.

Pricing

SeatMaker Pro is a paid app with no free version and no free trial. A purchase is required to use it, and every feature is included in every plan — there is nothing extra to buy afterwards.

Prices shown are for the United States storefront and are converted by Apple for other regions. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Privacy

No account. No sign-in. No analytics. No advertising. No third-party SDKs. No cloud sync. Rooms, class rosters, student names, notes and charts are stored only on your Mac, and you can delete all of it from Settings at any time. Read the full privacy policy.

Requirements

A Mac running macOS 14.0 or later. SeatMaker Pro requests no permissions at all — no camera, microphone, contacts, photos, location, calendar or notifications.
