To help us help you faster, please include your device model, your iOS version, and the app version (Settings → About).
Tap Restore Purchases. It is on the plan screen, and permanently inside the app at Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you used to buy — a purchase belongs to the Apple Account, not the device.
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us:
To avoid being charged after the 3-day free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
All purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We are not able to issue refunds ourselves.
| Plan | Length | Price (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Pro Yearly (best value) | 1 year, auto-renewing | $14.99/year ($1.25/month) — 3-day free trial |
| Pro Monthly | 1 month, auto-renewing | $2.99/month |
| Lifetime Access | One-time, never expires | $29.99 once |
All three unlock the same features. Your local price is shown in the app before you buy.
Your data lives on your device. Before switching, go to Settings → Export life list (CSV) and save the file somewhere safe (Files, iCloud Drive, email it to yourself). An encrypted iPhone backup or an iCloud device backup will also carry the app’s data across to a new device.
Yes, any time, with no restrictions: Settings → Export life list (CSV). The file opens in Numbers, Excel, Google Sheets or any other app. Your data is yours.
Yes. Everything except the initial purchase works fully offline — logging sightings, the life list, statistics and the species browser. The map needs a connection the first time it draws a region, after which Apple Maps caches it.
No. Location is entirely optional and is only requested when you tap “Use Current Location” while logging a sighting. If you decline, everything still works — just type the place name instead. Your location never leaves your device.
No. Bird Life List has no account and no server. Nothing you enter is ever transmitted to us or to anyone else. See the privacy policy.
The bundled checklist covers 250+ widely recorded species. If yours is missing, email us the common and scientific name and we will add it in a future update — we do this in every release.
No. Bird Life List is a record-keeping tool, not an identification tool. It does not identify birds from photos or sound.
