Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a course and weighted categories?
Open the semester you want, tap the button to add a course, and give it a name and its credit hours. Inside the course, add grading categories that match your syllabus — for example Homework 20%, Quizzes 20%, Midterm 25%, Final 35% — and give each one its weight. Then add assignments inside each category with the points you earned and the points possible. Your weights should normally add up to 100%.
How is my course grade calculated?
Each category gets its own average: the total points you earned in that category divided by the total points possible in it. That category average is then multiplied by the category's weight, and all the weighted category scores are added together to give your course percentage. That percentage is converted to a letter grade using the grading scale assigned to the course. Categories with no graded assignments yet are excluded, so your grade always reflects the work that has actually been graded.
How is semester vs cumulative GPA calculated?
Your semester GPA is the credit-weighted average of the courses in that one semester: each course's grade points are multiplied by its credit hours, those are summed, and the total is divided by the total credit hours for the semester. Your cumulative GPA uses exactly the same method but across every semester you have entered, giving your overall running average.
What is the What-If calculator?
The What-If calculator lets you test scenarios without changing your real data. You can enter hypothetical scores for upcoming assignments to see how they would move your course grade and GPA, or use it as a final-grade calculator: enter the grade you're aiming for and it tells you the minimum score you need on your remaining work — typically the final exam — to reach that target. It's the fastest way to answer "what do I need on the final?"
How do I use weighted (Honors/AP) GPA?
Weighted GPA is handled through grading scales. Create or select a weighted scale that awards extra grade points for Honors or AP courses — for example, an A worth 5.0 instead of 4.0 — and assign that scale to those courses. Standard courses keep the unweighted scale. Your semester and cumulative GPA then automatically reflect the extra weight where it applies.
How do I create a custom grading scale?
Go to the grading scales section in Settings, create a new scale, and give it a name. Then define each letter grade with the minimum percentage required to earn it and the grade points it is worth — for example, A = 93% and up, worth 4.0; A- = 90%, worth 3.7, and so on. Save the scale and assign it to any course. You can keep as many scales as you need, so different schools or course types can each use their own.
How do I restore my purchase?
If you have reinstalled the app or moved to a new device, go to Settings → Restore Purchases inside the app while signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy. Your subscription or Lifetime Access will be restored. Make sure you have a network connection, as restoring requires talking to the App Store.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not inside the app. Go to https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions, or open the iOS Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and select GPA & Grade Tracker. To avoid being charged again, cancel at least 24 hours before your current period ends. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
How do I request a refund?
All purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple rather than from us. Use Apple's refund page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204084. We are unable to issue refunds directly, but if something in the app isn't working, email us and we'll try to fix it.
Is my data private?
Yes, completely. The app has no account, no login, and no server. It collects no personal data, contains no analytics SDK, no ads, and no third-party trackers. The developer cannot see anything you enter. The only network activity is Apple's In-App Purchase system talking to the App Store to process or restore a purchase. See the full Privacy Policy.
Where is my data stored?
Entirely on your device. Your semesters, courses, categories, assignments, grades, and custom scales are saved locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. Nothing is uploaded to us, because there is no server to upload it to.
How do I delete all my data?
You can delete individual assignments, courses, or whole semesters from within the app at any time. To remove everything at once, simply delete the app from your device — that permanently erases all data the app stored there. We hold no copy on any server, so there is nothing else to delete and nothing to request from us.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The app is 100% offline and every feature — entering grades, calculating your course grade, semester and cumulative GPA, and the What-If calculator — works with no internet connection at all. The only time a connection is needed is when you make or restore a purchase, since that goes through the App Store.
