Summary
Dive Log does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. The app has no user account, no login, no server, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party trackers. Everything you enter — dives, dive sites, GPS coordinates, photos, certifications, gear and notes — is stored only on your own iPhone or iPad.
1. Who we are
Dive Log: Scuba Logbook (“Dive Log”, “the app”) is developed and published by MD Shahariar Nazim Joy (“we”, “us”, the “Developer”).

2. Data we collect
We collect none. Dive Log does not have a backend server. No data is ever uploaded to us or to any third party. Under Apple’s App Privacy definitions, our answer to every data-collection category is “Data Not Collected”.

3. Location
Dive Log asks for your location only at the moment you tap “Use My Location” while adding or editing a dive site. It uses that single reading to fill in the GPS coordinates of that dive site, so the site can be pinned on your personal dive-site map.
- The coordinates are saved in the app’s local database on your device.
- They are never transmitted to us or to any third party.
- The app never tracks your location in the background.
- You can decline location access and still use every part of the app; you can simply type coordinates or leave them blank.
- You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Dive Log.
4. Photos and camera
Dive Log asks for photo-library or camera access only at the moment you tap “Add Photos” on a dive, or add a photo of a certification card. The images you choose are copied into the app’s own private storage on your device so they can be shown alongside that dive or certification.
- Photos never leave your device.
- We never scan, analyse, index or upload your photo library.
- Dive Log only ever reads the specific images you actively select.
- You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Dive Log.
5. Purchases
Dive Log offers auto-renewing subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store using Apple’s In-App Purchase system. We never see, receive or store your name, email address, payment card, or billing address.
Apple’s handling of your purchase information is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
The app stores a single local flag on your device recording whether your purchase is active, so it can unlock the app offline. That flag contains no personal information.
6. Children’s privacy
Dive Log is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone, including children. Scuba diving certification generally requires a minimum age set by your training agency; follow your agency’s rules.
7. Your rights (GDPR, CCPA and similar laws)
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete on your behalf. You remain in complete control of your own data at all times:
- Export: Settings → Export Logbook (CSV) inside the app.
- Delete: Settings → Delete All Data inside the app, or delete the app from your device — which permanently removes every dive, photo, certification and gear item.
We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act, because we do not collect any.
8. Data retention and security
Your data lives in the app’s private container on your device, protected by iOS file-system encryption and the device passcode. We retain nothing, because we receive nothing. If you use iCloud Backup, your device backup — including the app’s data — is encrypted and managed by Apple under Apple’s terms.
9. Third parties
Dive Log contains no third-party SDKs of any kind: no analytics, no advertising, no attribution, no crash reporting, no social logins. The only external service the app interacts with is Apple’s own StoreKit, used to process In-App Purchases and restore previous purchases.
Map tiles shown on the dive-site map are provided by Apple Maps (MapKit) and are rendered on your device; Apple’s handling of map requests is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will also be described in the app’s release notes.
