World Map: Countries Visited

Been There World Map Tracker

An offline world map you fill in by tapping the countries and regions you have actually been to.

No account. No server. Nothing ever leaves your device.

Colour in the world you have seen

Open the map, tap a country, mark it. That is the whole idea โ€” a travel record you build with your thumb in a few seconds, and then keep for life.

Tap a country, mark it

Tap any country on the world map and mark it Visited, Lived or Wishlist. The map fills in as you go, so your travel history is one glance rather than a spreadsheet.

Drill into regions

A country is rarely all-or-nothing. Zoom in and mark the individual states, provinces and regions inside 50+ countries โ€” so "been to the USA" can mean the eleven states you have really set foot in.

Your Passport

A dedicated stats screen: countries visited, the percentage of the world you have covered, continents reached, UN member states, and regions marked. Your travels, counted honestly.

Rotatable 3D globe

Spin a real globe with your finger and watch your visited countries light up on it. The flat map is for marking; the globe is for looking at what you have done.

Shareable map card

Generate a clean image of your map โ€” your countries, your stats โ€” ready to save or send. Made on your device, shared only if you choose to share it.

Trips with dates and notes

Log a trip with dates and a note, so the map is not just where but when, and what you want to remember about it.

100% offline

The whole map ships inside the app. No tiles to download, no connection required โ€” it works on a plane, on a train, and in the middle of nowhere, which is rather the point.

No account, no tracking

No sign-up, no analytics SDKs, no ads, no third-party trackers, and not a single device permission requested. Your data lives on your device with SwiftData and nowhere else.

What the Passport counts

Five numbers, worked out from what you have marked on the map.

  • Countries visitedHow many you have marked Visited or Lived.
  • % of the worldYour share of the world's countries, as a percentage.
  • ContinentsHow many of the continents you have set foot on.
  • UN member statesYour count measured against the 193 UN member states.
  • RegionsStates, provinces and regions marked inside countries.

Your map stays on your iPhone

This is not a marketing line โ€” it is how the app is built.

  • Your countries, regions, trips, dates and notes live in a local SwiftData store on your device.
  • There is no account and no sign-up, because there is no server to sign in to.
  • No analytics SDKs, no advertising, no third-party trackers.
  • The app requests no device permissions at all โ€” no camera, contacts, photos, location, microphone or notifications.
  • The app makes no network requests except to Apple's own StoreKit, to check or make a purchase.
  • Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. The developer never sees your payment details.
  • You can erase everything instantly from Settings, or by deleting the app.

Map data

The country and region boundaries in the app come from Natural Earth, a public-domain map dataset maintained by the cartographic community. Natural Earth's boundaries are neutral and de-facto: they show, as far as possible, the lines as they are administered on the ground rather than as any government claims them to be.

The world has borders that are disputed, and no map pleases everyone. This app takes no position on any territorial dispute. The shapes you see are a cartographic convenience for logging your own travel โ€” they are not a political statement, a legal claim, or an endorsement of anyone's claim. If a boundary near you is drawn differently from how you would draw it, that is the dataset speaking, not us.

If you would rather not see it at all, Settings has a toggle to hide disputed-territory shading on the map.
