Coffee Brew Log: Barista

Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 12, 2026

Applies to the iOS app Coffee Brew Log: Barista (iPhone and iPad).

The short version: Coffee Brew Log: Barista is a 100% offline app. It has no account, no login and no server. It does not collect, transmit or upload any personal data whatsoever. Everything you enter stays on your device.

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Coffee Brew Log: Barista (the "App") handles information. The App is developed and published by MD Shahariar Nazim Joy ("we", "us", "the developer"). We built the App to be private by design: it works entirely on your device, and we have deliberately built it so that we never receive your data in the first place.

We do not operate any servers, backends or databases connected to the App. Because of that, this policy is unusually short on the things most privacy policies are long on — there is simply no data flow to describe. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, rent or share any personal data. Specifically, the App does not:

Data Stored On Your Device

The App stores the information you choose to enter so it can show it back to you. This includes things like your brew entries (dose, grind setting, water weight, temperature, brew time, ratings and tasting notes), your bean inventory and roast dates, your saved recipes, your timer preferences and your in-app settings.

This information is written to a local database on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. It is stored in the App's own private storage area, which is protected by iOS and is not readable by other apps. It never leaves your device by any mechanism we control, and we have no ability to access, read or recover it.

If you have enabled Apple's own device backup features (such as iCloud Backup or an encrypted local backup in Finder), your device backup may include the App's data as part of the overall backup of your phone or iPad. That backup is created and controlled by Apple and by you, under Apple's terms and privacy policy — not by us. We do not receive, and cannot access, anything in your Apple backups.

Notifications

The App can send you local notifications — for example, to alert you when a step of a brew timer has finished so you know when to make your next pour. This is entirely optional. iOS will ask for your permission before any notification is shown, and you may decline, or later turn notifications off in Settings > Notifications on your device. The App remains fully usable without them.

These notifications are local: they are scheduled and delivered entirely on-device by iOS. They are not push notifications, they do not travel through any server of ours, and no device token, no notification content and no information about you is sent to us or to any third party in order to deliver them.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Coffee Brew Log: Barista requires a purchase to use. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple's In-App Purchase system (StoreKit). When you buy a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription or the one-time lifetime unlock, the transaction takes place between you and Apple.

Apple processes the payment. We never see, receive or store your payment details. We do not receive your credit-card number, your billing address or your Apple Account credentials. What the App receives from Apple on your device is a receipt indicating whether you currently hold a valid purchase, so it can unlock the app for you. That check happens on your device between the App and Apple.

Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's own privacy policy, which you can read at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/. In an aggregate, anonymised form Apple may make sales and download reports available to us as the developer; these reports contain no information that identifies you personally.

Children's Privacy

The App is a coffee-brewing tool intended for a general adult audience. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

In practice, the App collects no personal information from anyone, of any age. There is no account, no profile, no messaging, no user-generated content shared with others, and no data transmission — so there is nothing for a child (or an adult) to disclose to us. If you are a parent or guardian and have any question about this, please contact us at dmjks120@gmail.com.

Third-Party Services

The App uses no third-party services, and contains no third-party SDKs. There is no analytics provider, no advertising network, no crash-reporting service, no cloud database and no external API.

The only party involved besides you and the App is Apple, through the App Store and StoreKit, which distributes the App and processes purchases as described above. Your relationship with Apple is governed by Apple's terms and Apple's privacy policy.

Data Retention and Deletion

Because we never collect your data, we retain nothing about you. There is no record of you on our side to delete, and no backup of your information on our servers — because we have no servers.

Your data lives on your device for exactly as long as you keep it there. You can delete individual brews, beans or recipes inside the App at any time. Deleting the App from your device deletes all of the data it stored, permanently and irreversibly. Please note that this also means we cannot restore your brew history for you if you delete the App or lose your device — we never had a copy.

Your purchase itself is tied to your Apple Account, not to your data, so you can reinstall the App and use "Restore Purchases" to regain access to the paid features even though your brew history is gone.

Your Rights

Privacy laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) give you rights over personal data that a company holds about you — including the right to access it, correct it, delete it, port it, restrict or object to its processing, and, under the CCPA, to opt out of its sale or sharing.

We do not collect or process any personal data, and we do not sell or share any personal data. As a result there is no data held by us for you to access, correct, port or delete, and nothing for you to opt out of. In effect, these rights are satisfied by the design of the App itself: your data is only ever in your own hands.

You are nevertheless welcome to contact us with any privacy question or request at dmjks120@gmail.com, and we will respond and explain the position described above. If your question concerns your purchase or your Apple Account, Apple is the party that holds that information.

International Users

The App is available in the countries and regions where Apple distributes it. Because the App does not transmit your data anywhere, using it does not involve any international transfer of your personal data by us — your information stays on your device, in whichever country you and your device happen to be.

Any transfer of information associated with buying the App (for example, your payment and Apple Account details) is carried out by Apple under Apple's own terms and safeguards.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the App gains a new feature or if the law changes. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page and post the updated policy here. If a future change ever meant that the App would collect personal data — which is not the case today — we would say so clearly and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
